First day of School Chalkboard DIY – Free Cut File

T- minus approximately 4 weeks until my girls start back to preschool.  I may or may not have a mental countdown going on in my head.

Seriously…I love them both more than life, but working at home with 2 small children is no easy feat!  Plus – Mama needs a break from the tantrums and bickering –  Am I right?

So I’ve been busy gearing up for back to school and today I wanted to share with you this quick, adorable – first day of school chalkboard DIY!

There’s not much to it!  All you have to do is download my file and import it into your software.  Obviously, you will need to add a name.  Most any thin script font should do but I used Bigshine.  I love pairing pretty script fonts with simple texts!

I would not recommend this for your very first vinyl project.  It is a bit difficult to weed as the fonts are thin.  It’s not impossible for a bigger – just be prepared to go slow!  I recommend drawing cut lines around it with an exacto knife and doing it section by section!  I’v e been doing this awhile now, and these still take me a good 20 minutes or more to weed!

I scored this adorable chalkboard at my local Target in the Dollarspot.  I think it was $5.  The back actually works for dry erase so during the year I plan on flipping it over and hanging it in my girl’s room to jot down reminders.

Like this – but don’t have a Silhouette yet?  You can purchase it in my Etsy shop here.

And don’t forget to pin this for later! 🙂   I’m considering creating a Mom’s Back to School countdown chalkboard for fun.  Would you use it?  Let me know in the comments!
