Springs in our sightlines and kids are wild,  crazy,  and ready to get outside and play.  I’m not sure about your part of the world, but lately we seem to have moved into a swamp.

Literally the lyrics to a Kid Rock sign have been constantly chorusing in my mind.  I ain’t seen the sunshine in three damn days.

Except if feels like years.   I can’t even imagine teaching now and having week after week of indoor recess.  And they’re rounding out the third quarter about to sail into the 4th quarter slump.

My baby is in full-blown toddler-hood.  So this Easter she’s treading that fine line between the comfort of baby toys and the independence of big kid toys.

12 tips to ensure your child is ready for kindergarten

One day I blinked and my baby was five. I literally just blinked and this tiny coo-ing bundle of drool and giggles turned into a sweet and sassy preschooler. And now that she’s five “whole years old” she knows everything and is super excited to start “big kid school” in the fall.

Me not so much.

I find myself struggling with the fact that it’s gone by so fast. That my little bitty baby, will soon be packed in a school full of self proclaimed “big kids.” I’m certain there will be a few tears shed at kindergarten registration. Spoiler alert – they won’t be hers.

But… I can take comfort in the fact that she’s ready, and really pumped about making new friends and learning new things. As parents, it’s completely natural to worry whether or not our kid is ready for school. Luckily, after 10 years of teaching, mostly in kindergarten, I knew completely what to expect, and how to set her up for success in the first year of her academic career.

I just love a good baby shower.  It’s overflowing with cuteness and brimming with love and hope.

Despite the difficulty, pregnancy is a magical time for Mamas, and baby showers share a tiny piece of that magic with loved ones.

The last 5 years of my life has been brimming with babies.  Virtually all of my close friends, my sister, and of course myself, have all had babies!  So, needless to say,  I have hosted more than my share of baby showers!
