If you’re living in the good old US of A these days, chances are your budget has taken a hit with prices rising steadily in practically every industry.

So when my oldest niece started asking to plan her pool themed birthday party, I immediately started thinking of ways to cut the costs without compromising the cuteness.

And you guys, this year Dollar Tree came in clutch for the win!

I styled virtually her ENTIRE party this year with decorations and DIY projects made from Dollar Tree materials.  In fact, I’d venture to guess that the decorations for this party ran me less than $20.

Her pool themed birthday party turned out super cute!  So cute in fact, all the decorations made an encore preformance at a friends party just a few weeks later.  It’s safe to say, we’ll be storing these party supplies for future pool parties also!

Dollar Tree Pool Party Decorations

Check out this adorable centerpiece made from Dollar tree materials.  The pineapple stand was a plastic cup.  I removed the straw and added flowers (also from the Dollar Tree).  I used clip art from a shop on Etsy to add some fun pool party elements.  These are hot glued on a bamboo skewer, which also came from the good old DT!

This pool noodle garland was a super easy craft.  I just cut off two inch wide rounds of a pool noodle.  I used a a plastic sewing needle and thread and sewed it together to create this fun garland!

This centerpiece was created with extra pool noodle sections leftover from the garland. I just hot glued them together and viola!  Again, I used Dollar Tree flowers and I even found these super fun leis in the summer section.

We scattered these centerpieces throughout the picnic shelter she’d reserved at our local waterpark.

This cupcake stand was a labor of love but I was thrilled with how it turned out.  I based it on a tutorial shared from Lady Behind the Curtain on YouTube.

It took me quite awhile and I added a cardboard piece to the bottom, but aside from a few hot glue burns, it was super easy! I’ve linked the tutorial below for your convience.

Pool Party Food Ideas

We wanted to keep food simple and cheap this year.  The main meal was hot dogs and for our fun themed options we offered a couple of cute sides. We

I grabbed these sand buckets and adorable flip flop trays at the Dollar Tree.  They made the perfect way to serve all our cute pool themed goodies!

We used Twizzlers for Pool Noodles and Lifesavers for Pool Floats.

Since cheese balls are always a crowd pleaser it was a no-brainer to make them the Pool Balls!

And Sun Chips – well those are pretty self explainatory (and delicious!).

My sister made these adorable cupcakes.  They were just your basic cupcake, until she added teddy grams floating in a Lifesaver Tube.  She also added a fun umbrella which fit the theme perfectly!

Pool Party Favors

My sister found added some candy and pool themed goodies to a bag and I whipped up some cute favor tags in Canva.  Just a few weeks ago, I stumbled across some pool floats at the Dollar Tree for 50% off and wish I’d grabbed them.  They would make the perfect favors for a party like this!
