Just Like You

I’m just like you.

My Pinterest boards are bursting at the seams with things I want to buy, recipes I want to make and things I want to create. It’s hard to find time for any of these things and when you do find the time, reading and understanding another person’s explanation is not always easy. Sometimes people have a tendency to over-complicate things when they write. As a mom, I want quick and easy. Lists with materials needed…quick, simple directions.

Time is hard to come by for me, making simple tutorials essential. I stay home with my children, and opened a craft business last year to supplement my income. As a result, I have learned a thing or two about making lots of different crafts. I want to share what I have learned with you, in a manner I think makes sense and keeps things uncomplicated. My vision for this blog is that it provides easy, step-by-step tutorials with photographs along the way, keeping it simple and easy to understand.

You may be wondering why a person who has a craft business would be willing to share the secrets of how they make the things they sell. Here’s my take on that. Making things makes me happy. I’m not the only one in the world who enjoys making things. If someone wants to make it, why would I want to stop them and deprive them of the happiness it might bring them? There’s most likely a tutorial somewhere out there already anyways. The equipment I use can be purchased by anybody. If you have the drive and desire to do it yourself, you are not my customer. My customer might like to make it, but recognizes that lots of time is invested in this project. The largest part of my customer base is moms who feel it’s easier to pay someone to do it for them. Those are my customers.

Along the way I will share other things. My big focus will be bringing you craft tutorial. However, I am also a mom first, and writing about all things mom will also be on the agenda. I am currently working on the preschool curriculum with my 4 year old, and plan to share those plans and ideas with you. We also LOVE to do crafts at home as a family. I will also be sharing cute kids crafts you can do with your children.

Before you go. Here’s a quick peek at who I am: I’m a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls who have way too many toys and don’t eat enough vegetables. I am southern and show it. I drink too much sweet tea, use y’all as a pronoun, and spend my summers sitting on the front porch watching the kids play barefoot on the lawn. I shop too much and attempt to justify it by shopping clearance racks and consignment sales. I love to create. Writing, Photography, Crafting…these are outlets for me that let me create and leave a tiny piece of myself behind. I also love to teach. I taught elementary school for 10 years but am fortunate enough to have a husband who works hard and supports us so I can enjoy this time with my girls while they are little.

This blog is a culmination of all my loves that will hopefully serve as a way to help those interested in crafting.  I welcome all questions and comments and would love to hear from you so always feel free to comment!
