Letter H Lesson Plan Free Preschool Weekly Lesson Plan – Letter of the Week (8)

****Guess what?!  Letter of the Week lesson plans are getting an overhaul!  I’m going through and updating all plans, adding new free worksheets and making sure all links are up to date!  I’ve created a bunch of templates too for some of the crafts that’ll make your life a lot easier!  Hang tight!  It may take some time to get through all the letters, but it’s coming soon!!  If you’re seeing this message, this post has already been updated!***

Today I’m back to working on my letter of the week lesson plan series.  I’ll be sharing some more preschool science lessons like yesterday’s soon, but wanted to share some more letter of the week posts since there are so many!

Today’s letter is H.  This letter is my daughter’s favorite letter for the sole fact that the word horse starts with H.  She is obsessed with horses (much like her Mama was).    The other crafts never stood a chance once she heard we were going to make a horse.   There’s also an awesome science experiment for you too!

Flashcards

If you need to check out how to apply these flashcards and why they are so important, you can read about it here.  Be sure to grab my free file by signing up for my email list.

This week’s card should be reviewed like so: “h-hippo-/h/.”  Make sure you’re reviewing all of the flashcards up to this point!  Your child should be able to identify them out of order.

Books

This week’s books include one of my favorite authors, Jan Brett!  I love everything she’s ever written and have most of her books.  She is also super awesome to write to, and sends lots of cool stuff back!

If you can’t find these books at your local library, remember to check out Amazon!

Activities

The activities in ths week’s Letter H Lesson Plan were all sorts of fun!

To celebrate H this week, we grabbed a bunch of materials and attempted to make hats out of the resources available.  This couture custom piece was created by my daughter using a paper plate, ribbon and lots of emblishments!

We used legos to practice making letters this week.  When it comes to curved sides we just drag a smooth end of the Lego.

I saw lots of hammer crafts on Pinterest, but was a bit stumped as to how to hammer through paper easily.  We already had playdough out and it occured to me that playdough would be the perfect substance to use.

So I whipped up a cute template to fit in a bread pan, and we got to hammering away.  I loved it so much, I’m working on doing all the letters.  I’ll share a post about that soon, but until then, here’s my free Letter H template!
