Yesterday, I shared our Doc McStuffins birthday party post with you. My daughter was three years old and already becoming hard to shop for.
In keeping with my theme, I decided to share a quick shopping list for 3 year olds. I hope you can find some useful ideas in this post. These toys have been much loved in our household!

Dress up Clothes
Right around the age of 3, dress up became a big thing for us! We started collecting dress up clothes and spent our afternoons having tea parties and playing princess. These dress up clothes are the BEST gift for a 3 year old. They also make uniform dress up clothes for boys.
Play Cleaning Set
This awesome set teaches responsibilities and lets children help you clean! Start modeling those good habits early and it will pay off! Parents will LOVE you for giving this cute gift set!
Play Doctor’s Set
We have several doctor’s sets but the pet vet set is by far the favorite. This one comes with tons of tools to help treat those furry friends. The cute little stuffed animals make the perfect patients!
Play Guitar
Research has show music has proven benefits to children’s brain development. Encourage that musical prowess by giving them this sweet little guitar. It comes with songs pre-programmed. Guaranteed to be a hit with any future rockstar (and it’s pretty stinking cute to watch!).
Minnie Dress Up Doll
Not quite sure what it is about this toy, but all the girls I’ve ever known have loved it. I guess maybe dressing up and accessorising are second nature at a young age. Whatever the reason, this is a toy that provides tons of independent play!
Bowling set
This set is lots of fun for a rainy day! We’ve used it indoors (gently) and outdoors. It’s great with friends or alone!
Scooter
My daughter got a scooter for her third birthday and it has been played with more than practically any toy in our house! She loves scooting along and picked it up quickly. This toy is great for expending some of that endless energy!
Magformers
This tiny magnets are educational and fun! Both my daugher and I love playing with these. We’ve even drug her Dad into it! There are endless possibilities for fun with these. They will provide hours and hours of entertainment!
Playdough
Playdough is age appropriate fun for many children. Around 3 years old, kids are finally learning not to eat the stuff. Playdough makes a great gift for this age. *Note – the parents may not particularly like you for it, but the kid sure will!
Board game
At 3, kids are finally getting to the age where they can enjoy a simple board game. Granted, you have to start small, but you’ll be building the foundation of family game night for years to come! Hi Ho Cherry-o, is an age old classic and perfect board game gift!
