Beauty and the Beast Birthday Party Ideas

Next up in our birthday party series is an epic Beauty and the Beast Birthday party!

There is something about the movie Beauty and the Beast.  Maybe it’s the classic love story. The  whole “Tale as Old as Time” thing.

Whatever it is, it seems to have an almost magical allure for little girls.   In fact, for us, Beauty and the Beast ranked above Frozen and Moana (*gasp*)!  We also chose Belle as the character for our youngest to dress up in for newborn pics as an ode to her Daddy’s adorable gesture with her sister (read about that here).

So when the newest Beauty and the Beast was released a few months before my daughter’s communal birth month, it was a no brainer that they’d have a Beauty and the Beast party.  I *may* have started planning it months in advance.

The decision to have a “joint” birthday party was not an easy one for me to arrive at.  Having two kids with birthdays really close together presents a unique set of problems.  But that’s a blog post for another day.  In today’s post, I’m going to share with you how I threw my own little princesses their own ridiculously over the top Beauty and the Beast birthday party.

Invitations:

This design took me quite awhile to work through.  I worked on it for a few weeks in Photoshop before finally deciding on this.  For photos we had a mini-princess photo shoot, where they dressed up in the “Belle” dresses (Target! Find them here!) and used props to re-create our own “Beauty” pics.

And because they are two stinking cute, here are a couple of pics from the smash cake, and the princess photo shoot.

Venue

For some reason, I had the crazy notion that it would be fun to have a big birthday party at home.  Y’all…smack me HARD if those words ever come out of my mouth again!

In theory it’s a great idea but in reality a nightmare.  Never.Again.

I spent a WHOLE week deep cleaning my house before and then still had to decorate.  We moved my entire office/craft room into a building outside to create a place for guests to sit and eat.  It was insane.

We rented a bounce house.  I hired a face painter. It was like the freaking wedding of birthday parties. Never. Again.

Food

So unfortunately, I was too caught up in party mode to get an actual decent picture of the actual food.  I have a few with unsuspecting friends’s and relatives however, they probably don’t want to be put on blast, so this will have to suffice.

Our big thing was the “Hot Hors D’oevres” and we basically went to Sams Clubs and stocked up on a ton of little appetizers.  We had quiche, meatballs, deli spirals, mac and cheese balls, fruit and more.

I also made Luemiere’s candlesicks (chocolate covered pretzel rods), “Chips” chips, and “The Gray Stuff” (check out the recipe here).    My friend made an adorable smash cake and matching cupcakes.  I used my Silhouette to create the cake topper.

Decorations

I had decorations throughout the house but the big display was the cake table.  I made a rag tie banner using fabric scraps, and attached fabric roses I’d cut off of roses I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  The balloons were also bought there.  I got the swanky tablecloth from Amazon.

I found some old looking books at my Mom’s (Reader’s Digest anthology y’all!) and added some pics from our photoshoot in gold dollar tree frames.  I made the rose vase (which doubles as a candle holder AND can be turned into a tissue holder).  Tutorial to come!

I made this cute high chair banner with elastic, tulle, rose flowers and a simple banner I created with my Silhouette.  I hung it to the high chair using double sided tape.  It appears I haven’t learned my lesson about glitter tulle getting everywhere.

We turned the dining room into party central with folding tables.  On each table I stuck a vas with roses and pictures from either the cake smash or the princess shoot.

I made the girls a banner and hung it on the wall and also created their yearly posters as usual.

Also alone the wall, I hung a progression of monthly pics of my youngest.  However, you will notice that I had a complete mom fail and didn’t print the last 2 months!

On the gift table I added two 8X10s of the princesses and as a centerpiece created a floating rose like in the movie.  This was very simple.  I grabbed a belle vase from Hobby Lobby, and hot glued some fishing line to a rose.  Then I  glued in the line in the top.  It gave the illusion of it floating.

I scattered decorations throughout the house that I’d been collecting. I’d been picking up Belle characters and dolls at consignment sales and shops for a few months.  More pictures were set out, again bought from Dollar Tree.    I even made a balloon wreath for the front door and a new”Be Our Guest”  doormat (want to know how?  Check out my tutorial here).

Favors

Our favor table was right as the guests entered the house.

We had candy for all guests, using these tags I found on pinterest and modified slightly.

And for the children, we had Belle’s book cafe, where they could select a book to go home with them.

Here are links to some of the decorations we found on Amazon.  Doesn’t get any easier than that!

You’re babies are so cute! I remember when my girls where as little as yours. I would celebrate their birthday just like how you planned yours. Simple, but the effort and theme is there. I miss planning out small parties like this. Thank you for bringing back some memories.
