Free Ocean Animals Preschool Unit –

One of the first things that comes to my mind when I think of summer is the ocean.

We try to go at least once a year.  Personally, I’m more of a mountains girl, but there’s something to be said about sitting on the beach in the hot sun, listening to the waves crash on the shore.

But then there’s having to clean sand out of every crevice of your body too, so…

We always make a trip to the aquarium also.  I’ve always found sea life so fascinating.  It’s like this entire different world exists below the water.  So needless to say, I had a lot of fun planning this week’s lessons all centering around ocean animals!

These science units are designed to be one week long, but that doesn’t mean that’s the way you have to do it.  Feel free to speed it up or slow it down as much as you need Mama!  Truly these units are above discovery and and nurturing that healthy curiosity seeded inside your child.

Books

There are so many cute books about the ocean and the creatures that live in it!  These are just a few of my favs, but the possibilities are endless.  Your local library is probably packed to the brim with books that would be great for this unit.  Be sure you pick up some good non-fiction books too.

Remember though, you can score books dirt cheap used on Amazon if you are having trouble finding what you need!

Ocean Animal Crafts

My favorite this week is the puffer fish craft.  My friend once caught a puffer fish while fishing in the ocean and it was the craziest little thing I’ve ever seen!

Ocean Animal Activities

So many fun activities this week!  I love that I was able to integrate lots of different subject areas in these!

Ocean Animal Worksheets

Most of this week’s sheets come from one resource, making it super easy for you!

***All of the rest of the worksheets come from the same pack – it’s free and full of great ideas!

Even if you can’t make it to the beach, try and make a try to a science center or somewhere local with an aquarium.  Even a pet store could be fun!  It’s a great way to extend and enrich the unit!

If you haven’t already, be sure to follow me on Pinterest for lots of other great pins!
