Y’all know the letter lmnop, right?

I’d say about one fourth of the population knew it as a 4 or 5 year old.  It’s like a misheard lyric in the alphabet song.  I had so many kindergartners coming in misunderstanding that part of the alphabet when it was sung.

But my favorite unknown letter of the alphabet?  Anzee.  Yup, pronounced just like it looks, “an-zz.”

I had the cutest little redheaded boy once who when asked to identify the letter z would say, “anzee.”  It took me a minute to figure out but I figured out he learned his ABCs and letter identification at home by singing the alphabet and pointing at the letters as he went along.  So when he came to w,x,y and z… See what he did there?

Bless his heart it was so stinking cute, I almost couldn’t bear to correct him.  But I did, and now I’ve got that adorable memory to share before giving you our last letter of the week lesson plan!!

We are finally there,  but I’m not done with you yet, so stick around after this week’s letter z lesson plan and learn what’s to come!

Zebras have always been one of my favorite animals.  That is until I met one in person.  Turns out  zebras are pretty mean and quick to bite!

Still, this craft turned out pretty cute!  Grab my free template here  or from the image below.

For this craft, the idea was to draw zig zags all over it.  However, glitter clue perhaps wasn’t the best choice for straight lines.  I’d highly recommend sticking with markers when you re-create this one!

Letter Z Activities

There are lots of fun activities this week.  Our paper bag zebra and our paper bag unicorn made for a pretty cute little puppet show!
